In the spring, we ask our local public librarian to visit and issue public library cards to our students.
Our school doors close for the summer, but the Revelstoke Branch of the Okanagan Public Library stays open and they have so much to offer in the branch AND online!

Great idea to do your promotion in the spring and connect students to the library over the summer. We advertise summer reading programs with our public library, but tend to do the library card promotion in the fall. I always like to highlight to my students that there are more options than just books! I can't remember what the ORL has, but we have some indie flicks and other databases that are interest to teens.

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of having the librarian come in to your school in the spring - well timed! This adds a 'realness' to the campaign. Adding a well placed image or two might attract more attention to your poster.
